Job Description – Database Engineer

Someone that can understand the product (and real life partof it) and reasoning behind it and thus design, implement, maintain andoptimize the database and data accordingly. Should have a strong clearunderstanding of database theory and concepts but also know when and why it isuseful to break the theory for practical purposes.

Essential     Character  Set:	· Highly  motivated;   · Able to  react and work quickly according to situation;   · Good  problem solving skills;   · Ability to  work independently;   · Good time  management and time estimation skills;   · Sharp,  with strong common sense and ability to grasp and understand things quickly.   · Excellent  communication skills
Essential  Skills Set:	· Bachelor's Degree in related field or comparable  experience   · 3 years of Database Administration with My SQL.   · Hands-on experience supporting large DB  environments (over 5M users);   · Proven experience with database replication techniques,  complexities, automation, monitoring, and high-availability strategies-use of  3rd party solutions in these techniques is encouraged;   · Experience in monitoring a  production SQL Server machine;   · Very Good  command of English;
Desirable  Requirements:	· Extensive  experience in Linux operating system;   · Familiar with  Oracle/Sybase/Sqlserver;   · Extensive  experience of PHP preferred, or experience in similar web-programming  language with ability to learn PHP;   · Understanding  of basic CS algorithms & processes;
Job Responsibilities:	· Design, document, and monitor the MySQL Database servers.   · Create  scripts and tools to automate data handling and manipulation processes;   · Create  queries to generate sample data sets;   · Organize  metrics, track, and report on data trends;   · Update  and improve existing scripts;   · Monitor and configure data feeds  from various sources;   · Act as "caretaker" for  multiple SQL databases and serve as first line of support for any problems  that arise (diagnosing SQL replication issues, import failures, etc.);   · Work closely with professional MySQL  team;
